I’m not going to lie but this is the one thing in my blogging life that I struggle with massively – blogging consistently.
But if you take a peek at all the successful bloggers in your niche, you’ll notice that they have one thing in common.
They blog consistently.
Most of us start with fire and passion. When we just create a blog, we churn out blog posts faster than we can say “cheese cracker” but eventually life catches up with us and we are unable to keep up.
So, what happens?
We burn out.
You tell yourself, “I’m only a week behind, I’ll catch up next week!” And before you know it, 3 months have gone by and your blog is growing cobwebs.
Raise your hand if you’re as guilty as me.
It’s never too late to become consistent. There’s still hope for all of us. So, let’s get down to why it is important to be a consistent blogger before answering the how.
Why blog consistently?
1. It makes you look like a gosh darn professional
People who love your Blog are going to notice that you’re blogging regularly and will be more inclined to return because they will assume that you know your stuff.
Additionally, they will have more posts to look through when they first visit your blog – indirectly getting them to stay on your blog for longer.
2. It will boost your SEO and increase your traffic
Because you are constantly updating your Blog, Search Engines will start paying more attention to your Website and notice that your website is more relevant than others in your niche and boost it to their readers which will help you stand out from the sea of bloggers out there.
3. It will help with Brand Awareness
Publishing blog posts in your niche is the best way to connect to your target audience and your content is the stepping stone to getting your readers to become customers and clients.
The process of a sales funnel is mighty simple.
Additionally, you will also find it easy to keep your regular readers in the loop.
So, now that you’re convinced about the benefits of blogging consistently, let’s move on to a few tips that can help you become a consistent blogger.

How do you become a consistent Blogger?
1. Understand why you’re blogging in the first place
The reason can be as serious as clearing your education loans or as personal as making a name for yourself in your niche or the desire to build your own Brand.
Remind yourself why you’re blogging every time you feel like giving it up and starting something else.
This will most definitely give you that much needed motivation you require to sit down and complete your blogging tasks for the day. wr
You can also write down your main reason on a piece of paper and keep it in a place where you can see it daily.
This will work as an affirmation and help you look at your Blog with more seriousness.
2. Break down big tasks into smaller tasks.
It can be really daunting if you look at your Planner and see “Write blog post and publish today.”
There is so much that goes into writing a blog post.
So, in order to not feel overwhelmed, break it down into mini-tasks.
For example, I’m going to break down the “Write a blog post” task into smaller tasks.
- Keyword Research
- Decide on one long tail keyword and multiple short tail keywords
- Draft 10 headlines
- Complete Introduction
- Outline Post
- Flesh out the post
- Add illustrations
- Add internal links
- Edit and proofread
Likewise, you can break any tasks into smaller tasks. I sometimes use Trello to keep track of everything.
You can keep multiple lists.
And add cards to each list. In each card, you can add more information like a description or a checklist. In addition to all of this, you can also set due dates for each card and spread out your cards in a calendar so you can view everything brilliantly.

3. Spread it out over the week
The easiest way to blog consistently is to create a schedule and then stick to it.
Mondays can be hell.
So, I stay away from core blogging work like researching or writing and instead do light work like replying to comments and creating a few pins for my best posts.
On Tuesdays, I research for keywords and titles for my next blog post. And during the remainder of the week, I will write the post and carry out the remaining tasks in order to publish a full and meaty blog post.
Once you know what you have to do each day, everything basically falls into place and you will feel more inclined to work.
You can keep a simple time-table like this:
This is a simple Excel Sheet with a few of my tasks spread out so I have a general idea of what I have to do each day.
Or you can go all out and get yourself a fancy blog planner like this one.
Whatever floats your boat, really.
Being organized really helps put things into perspective. And by building a blogging routine, you will know exactly what you have to do a day in advance so you end up saving a lot of time.
4. Decide on a posting schedule
It can be very tempting to publish over 5 blog posts a week in order to boost your traffic.
Because eventually, you will burn out and not be able to keep up. So, set a realistic schedule right now and stick to it. Additionally, create a business plan so you can stick to a regime!
I currently publish 1 post a week or 1 in 2 weeks if the post is really long and requires a lot of time to write.
5. Keep all of your blog post ideas in one place
I usually decide my blog post ideas for a whole Quarter in advance.
This really makes my work easier.
Likewise, decide in advance what your next quarter will look like.
If you have 4-5 categories, take a peek at it and add posts in each category that you’re going to be writing in the next few weeks.
Aside from that, decide on a call-to-action for each post.
Do you want to use it to promote your eBook? In this case, you will have to write posts that cover the chapters in your eBook in order to spread awareness.
Or do you want to get more email sign ups? In this case, you will have to write posts that help promote brand awareness and offer more freebies.
Once you understand what you want to accomplish with your posts, writing posts that go viral quickly becomes easy peasy lemon squeezy.
You will also not have to waste time coming up with a new blog post idea every week. Trust me, this is one of the best blogger time hacks out there.

6. Keep an accountability partner
Because we are cooped up all day at home, blogging can get really lonely.
Also, it becomes very easy to get de-motivated when you have no one to talk to in your field.
At the end of the day, it’s very difficult to explain what you do to your family and friends. And not all of us will be lucky to have people who understand.
However you can find these people, online.
Join 3-5 Facebook groups and just go out there and engage. Don’t bother promoting yourself in the beginning. You don’t want to come off as needy and spammy.
The more confident you are, the easier it will be to make friends.
And once you have a few friends, you can set deadlines for your goals and touch base every few days to keep each other motivated.

7. Focus more of your time on high-value tasks
If you look at everything that you’re doing to run your blog, you can divide your tasks into 2 broad categories – high value and low value.
In layman’s terms, you dedicate more of your time to the tasks that bring you closer to your goals and this will help you reach more success quickly.
These tasks will propel your business forward.
I’m definitely going to bring my lunch up now.
If your goal is to make more money blogging, creating more pins and scheduling them will get you more traffic (and therefore more ad revenue) so this is a high value task.
Replying to comments or emails doesn’t directly contribute to your finances so this is a low value task.
Get my drift?
So, what I find that really helps is the night before, I list 2-3 high value tasks in my Planner I really need to finish.
And by morning, I am mentally prepared to tackle them head-on.
I either use my breaks to reply to emails or comments or do this at the end of the day when I’m mentally tired and can manage light work.
8. Take frequent breaks so as to not go nuts
You may think that taking breaks is a huge waste of time. But au contraire mon ami, it will actually help you work faster.
If you work for 3 hours at a stretch, you will eventually burn out and become more slow and unproductive.
So, for every 45 minutes you work, take a nice, solid 15 minute break.
Here are a few things you can do:
- Get up and go drink a glass of water
- Make some tea and sip it quietly while catching up on a few pages of your favorite book
- Do a few quick stretches or jumping jacks
- Lift weights to help tone those arms (typing won’t help build those biceps, believe me, I’ve tried)
- Get yourself a healthy snack
- Play with your pets because they’ve been giving you puppy dog eyes for the past 10 minutes
- Call a friend to have a quick, happy chat
Your break should motivate you to continue working.
This means, you need to stay away from distractions like social media or games. Unless you’re socializing on Facebook Groups that are related to Blogging or Business; in that case, go right ahead and mingle.
By taking frequent breaks, you will sharpen your mind and be prepared to work for the next 45 minutes without distractions.
You can also use your break time to pick up a completely new skill. Because I love sharpening my drawing skills, I watch a few online courses whenever I have spare time.
9. An alternate technique: Batching to save you a ton of time
Switching between tasks actually is a huge time-waste.
And there is a small trick I’ve recently learned that you can use to save more time!
So, this week, I want you to try this productive hack called batching.
Let’s say your task for Monday is to draft headlines for your Blog Post. Instead of drafting headlines for 1 post, sit and draft headlines for the next 4-5 posts at a stretch.
This will save you a lot of time and you won’t have to repeat this particular task for each blog post of the month. You can use this time to focus on other high value tasks that will bring you closer to your goals quickly!

Blogging requires a lot of patience and most people give up because they don’t see quick results. But pushing out good quality content consistently is what sets apart good bloggers from the rest.
